I'm a "retired" athlete who loves to find creative ways to stay in shape and motivate people along the way. I use the word "retired" lightly as I still love to compete. Being a mother of four, I've found that if you are not taking care of yourself, it’s challenging to fully care for anyone else. This is one of my reasons for opening a group fitness studio in our community...to give others a place where they can work on themselves as well an outlet to feel good and let the stresses of life go.

 

Throughout the last 20 years of my life, I’ve trained my body and others, with many different programs. During all of these programs, our bodies change, and you will find what gives you the best results for what you want to achieve at that point and time in your life. I’ve also found that doing a workout in a group atmosphere is WAY more fun than doing it on your own.

My whole life before becoming a mother and wife, was centered around playing and coaching sports. Growing up, I played almost every sport out there, but excelled and fell in love with soccer. I loved it so much, that as an adult, I played up to five nights a week in competitive leagues until getting pregnant with out first son.

 

I never knew how much I enjoyed being fit, until I wasn't. I struggled to find a way to get back into shape after having kids. But then I took the Core Cardio and Strength class here at Tula. The fun group atmosphere brought out my competitive side again and the pounds started to drop.

 

By clean-eating and exercising, not only have I become a better version of myself, but a better mother and wife as well.

My love of yoga began in 1997 during a fifteen-minute cool down yoga session following a cardio kick boxing class.  Yoga resonated with me immediately.  That short class left with me a clean, open and grounded feeling that (I now know) yoga tends to provide, while creating a deep seeded thirst to further explore the practice. I began practicing yoga using videos and books, eventually landing at the Yoga Loft in Willmar, MN where I attended a yoga study course leading to my 230 RYT Yoga Teacher Certification.  Yoga has taught me more than I ever expected, helped me find quiet, courage, strength and, quite honestly, permanent change in my life…all gifts for which I am deeply grateful!

My experience thus far includes teaching yoga classes to adults through Community Ed., to high school students through the school’s weight room program and to youth at the CCOC’s (Christian Community Outreach Center) after-school program in Olivia.  I am excited for the opportunity to work with this incredible group of instructors at Tula MBS!

Yoga is a balanced study/practice of the mind, the body and the spirit and ultimately, is a way of living one’s life.  My teaching aim is to assist students so they may have a balanced, positive yoga experience; one that will remain after class and in living out their daily lives.  I intend my classes to be a welcome place for students of various ages and yogic levels, abilities and interests.  I am looking forward to sharing yoga and the yogic lifestyle with you!

Over the course of my life, I have always been interested in finding ways to be active that are FUN.  I believe that working out in a group atmosphere is very beneficial, and dance fitness is my passion! 
 
I became certified in Zumba in 2012, and have taught around the area since then, for all ages and levels of fitness.  I would like everyone to know that “dance” is a liberal term… no dance experience is necessary!  The whole point is to have a good time while experiencing a cardio workout.  It’s like going to a party but without the cheesy pickup lines or someone spilling a drink on you.

I am a pastor here in Olivia with my beautiful family – my wife, Sarah and two sons, Leif and Bjorn. I was introduced to kettle bells about four years ago as I was looking for a good cardio workout that was easy on my joints and didn’t take a lot of time.  What I found with kettle bells was way more.  It combines strength, cardio and breathing while working several muscle groups at one time. Currently I am a certified HKC instructor.

 

It is my belief, that kettlebells can help all people of any age to not only stay healthy but provide healing benefits as well.  The weights range from 5 to 120 pounds.  The shape gives them many different uses and you can get a great workout from just one kettlebell.
